About

Jono.blog is not about one specific topic. Infact, jono.blog is about 5 different interests in my personal life. I am Jono, and this is my blog which is dedicated to the things I am good at and know about. You may or may not share the same interests as me, but it’s okay because I’m publishing only to inform and teach of new things I learn, and things I have been privleged enough to learn myself. I will break down the subjects and give you a little background on each.

Graphic Design

I have been involved with graphic design since 2001, and have been progressing and building skills ever since I started. This is one of my greatest passions, and I believe I have a keen eye for sharp and catchy design. I am no self proclaimed artist, but I know enough about what works and what doesn’t to confidently take on any task which is presented before me.

Programming

I have programming since 2001. In may 2008, I moved to the Philippines as a PHP program manager to run a development team. Although I have a strong knowledge of the PHP and server side programming, I prefer interface design & programming. I am an avid reader of various web blogs and try to make a point of staying on top of the latest web languages. While I can read and understand most languages, the languages I am most comfortable with are PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, XHTML, XML, CSS, and JS.

Music

Music is what binds us together. It is my number one passion, and what I hope to some day become a master at and make my profession. I took classical lessons and had a knack for the piano at an early age. I went for 7 or 8 years before I decided to quit in high school which was quite a mistake that I regret now. I have transferred my piano skills into composition through midi and electronic enigeering. I have fallen in love with Reason, and developed a passion to create experimental sounds in my spare time.

Health & Fitness

My father was always a very fit and active man and the gym teacher of the school I attend for the majority of my early life, and a true leading example of the profession he taught. Throughout my elementary years I was quite active and played a lot of sports, then later slacked and became a computer junkie when I developed a passion for graphic design and web work. It wasn’t until after high school that I started hitting the gym. Within one month I gained nearly 20lbs of muscle – mind you I was very uneducated about proper nutrition and took the route of gaining by eating steak every night. Ever since then I have been learning about proper nutrition about proper works muscle development. I have learned by doing things the wrong way, and now after many years of learning and experimenting with my own body I have seen what works and what doesn’t.

Personal

I have been living Manila, Philippines since May of 2008. Before I moved here, I had been working as a freelance developer and graphic designer for a few months before getting called back to my former company to move here. Ever since I have moved here I have been leading and managing a team of programmers. The personal portion of my blog is closely related to my experiences here in the Philippines, and occasional things I find funny online.
