If you’re like me, and your external hard drive seems to call it quits yet all your music is on that hard drive there is an easy way to migrate your data. This works too if you just want to move your music to another hard drive. Firstly I’m in OS X so the migrating from hard drive to hard drive part might vary… but the iTunes location part shouldn’t change. The problem with my failing hard drive was it would run alright for a few minutes than stop responding, so dragging and dropping 80 gigs of music in the finder was out of the question.

I’m happy to announce Quote Robot is taking off. We’ve made a lot of progress and things are looking very promising. The goal is to be able to launch mid-end february. If you haven’t already, please head over to quoterobot.com and sign up for the newsletter. We’ll be giving away a bunch of beta accounts so you might be a lucky winner if you sign up early.
In other news, jQuery 1.4 was released and there is an ass-load of fixes and improvements! Media temple also put up a contest for sites that showcase jQuery nicely, and I submitted and won for sapphiresound.ca! Pretty stoked about this. Check out the mediatemple jQuery winners here. The winners receive free hosting for a year, and the top winner gets a MacBook Pro 13″!

A lot of people twitter spam. Although twitter has minimized the amount of spammers (fake accounts), some still get through. So why do people spam? Traffic obviously, but wouldn’t you think the traffic is complete garbage? It’s not targeted, there’s no back link weight (they use nofollow) so how can it really effective at all?

We have officially launched We Don’t Support IE! We Don’t Support IE is a site dedicated to helping the world upgrade. We do this by offering a bunch of small buttons that webmasters can put on their websites, or generate a button if you don’t want to use a premade one. Users can also add their site to the “supported” directory for a free backlink. We are hoping this picks up some speed and becomes popular among IE haters. Check it out and grab a button!

I’m proud to have released the women’s question and answer website AnswerLily.com for a client. I had worked my ass off most of January to get this site done. I’m still reworking the colour theme though to make like a little more like DailyCandy.com. Another site which was launched today (but is still in the works) is We Don’t Support IE. The goal of this website is to start a web movement against IE. I really hope this picks up speed because I am more than frustrated with IE and can’t count how many hours I’ve put into bug fixing for this retarded browser. After talking to several programmers and designers, everyone seems to feel the same and would be more than happy to put the button on their site.

Today I am proud to have launched my companies website: Moustache Media. Moustache is a web production company which takes on clients and jobs of all sorts, as well as owns our own web projects. Moustache utilizes our large network of web professionals to meet any web related request a client may have. The new site proudly does not support internet explorer, so if you decide to view it in IE, you won’t have the access to the main site content.

Since wordpress 2.7 was released, I’m going to be updating the LifeStreaming White wordpress theme. I have overhauled jono.blog (using the lifestreaming white template), but made many adjustments which haven’t been implemented in the lifestream theme yet. To name a few adjustments: the post slider was changed (width of selected post auto adjusts with jQuery), threaded comments now supported (introduced in 2.7), various type face changes (line heights, font sizes, etc), and the list goes on. I hope to have an updated release before Christmas. Stay tuned!

I’m going to write a tutorial for the horizontal scroller used on this website. You can scour the web, and I pretty much gaurantee you will not find this anywhere (yet). I spent hours digging around, because people have done similar things like the apple store product slider, but this type of jQuery slider is quite a bit different than that. Stay tuned for an upcoming freebie!

I see a big problem with the semantic web and social networks. We have all these great tools like twitter, last.fm, youtube, etc, but it becomes time consuming and unmanageable to update them all. For instance, you want tweet on twitter, you have to login in and post your update. You then update your facebook status, same thing – login and post your update. The process repeats. As soon as your list of social services grows, this can take quite some time. Wouldn’t it be easier if this was streamlined from your desktop or mobile devices? In my opinion, yes! There are a handful of apps already developed to do so, and many more to come in the future. Here’s a list of some tools to help you streamline your social updates.

It’s hard to come home after a days work and go back to work, especially when you don’t have any guarantee that what your doing is going to pay off. It feels like ‘why should I even bother?’, especially when the web is so saturated in every topic. Well, yes it’s over saturated, but that definitely does mean that you can’t make money at it.
Below I have listed four key subjects that keep me motivated and continually slaving away even when I’d rather relax and watch TV.
