  • A few months ago I read an article by ReadWriteWeb about the future of blogging. I never noticed this trend until it was pointed out by them. To quickly summarize the article, it’s about how personal blogs have been shifting to horizontal updates, in a manner similar to how you post Twitter updates. I really like how information is presented to users in this fashion, and decided to design a few concept ‘LifeStreaming’ wordpress themes. I hope to have these ready for download within the next few weeks. The design is nearly done, it just needs to be sliced and coded. Subscribe to my feed if you wish to be notified of when they are available.

Note: The white lifestream wordpress theme is now available for download.

Using Google To Jack Paid Fonts

As designers, we often become frustrated with the endless search of the “perfect font” for whatever the project may be. There are so many awesome fonts put out by Adobe and other companies but they come with a big price tag. I’m going to give a bit of information showing you how to use google to find pretty much any font you want, for free. However, I am not liable for your actions or what you choose do with this information. When you steal these fonts, your stealing from the designer who made them. BUY IT IF YOU LIKE IT!

Nutrition: When & What To Eat

First of all, I don’t take any supplements, only protein powder which isn’t even necessary if you can suffice for it in your diet, naturally. Seeing as how I live in the Philippines though, the meat products are generally no good so I am protein deficient. There is much debate over how much protein should be in a active person’s diet; some experts say 1.5 grams times your body weight per day, while others say 0.7g * weight. In my experience I’ve found to much won’t hurt you, but it also won’t benefit you if you don’t consume at the proper times. Here is a breakdown of my diet, what time I eat, and when I exercise.

    Did A Shoot…

If you notice on the photos thumbnails and page, you can see some new photos for a modeling gig. This was a shoot to do a ’set card’ which is what you present to clients who hire models for advertising, and they can decide if they like you or not. Modeling here in the Philippines is a massive industry and they really really want white skinned models, that’s why I was approached a few times to do this stuff… and after trying it I can tell its not my bag. I haven’t even done a shoot yet for a client, but it’s easy to tell right away from just the set card shoot what that lifestyle is like.

    jQuery Coda Slider

Started a new recipes site, where users can rate recipes, submit them, comment. The domain sucks, and the recipes site will be based around foods with garlic. It’s garlicfoods.info so I’m looking to buy something with a dot com instead. What’s import is that the structure of the site gets nailed down so I can reuse the code for other recipe sites. On the homepage a featured recipe box with large images that cycle. I used an open source jQuery script called the ‘coda slider’. However, after all the hard of getting it to work properly. I think I found something even better: Better Coda Slider. If you ever need to cycle content (featured content, news flashes, etc) this is great script to do it.

    Moving On

We fired our maid, even though her cooking was amazing. Various reasons for it… mostly came to down to paying way to much and being taken advantage of. Now we gotta find a replacement.

    Wanna Have a Cock Fight?

Its common practice here to take your cock, take your friends cock, and go at it while others watch intensely and bet money. No filming though, what goes on is underground and will get you in big trouble. I’m talking birds. They strap razor blades to the cocks and let the birds kill each other. All in good fun though. I have yet to experience this but am totally looking forward to it. It might be a sketchy place for a white man to go to though. Certain places in the Philippines, even filipinos are scared to go because they know if you go into those neighborhoods your guaranteed to get held up. Where i’m living is pretty safe though, only been pick pocketed once thus far.

    Donkey Show

No earthquake happened. Been pretty sick and drinking to much and feel like ass right now… being out till 5:30am didn’t help much. Vik is getting married soon, so I don’t have a choice in the matter. He only has a month of freedom left. I’ll add some pics of my saturday where we went out to the club.

As for work i’ve been working on another project. I’m going to revert back to the original project66 which I started in 2002. It was an old tutorial site with a few winamp skins and resources, and at one point it was getting a fair bit of traffic. It was a PR6 so I’m going to keep this blog for personal updates, but the main site will be a free resource site with wordpress themes, plugins, brushes, fonts, etc. I’m modeling it after smashingmagazine.com. The content on that site is amazing so I’d love to mimic that.
